Braided sleeve – technical solutions for industry & mechanical engineering
Braided sleeves – materials, properties, and applications
A braided sleeve is a versatile protective component for wires, cables, and hoses in industrial applications. It provides protection against abrasion, heat, chemicals, and mechanical stress and is used wherever reliability and durability are essential. As an experienced manufacturer, we have been developing high-quality braided sleeves for demanding applications for decades. From mechanical engineering and electrical engineering to the automotive and special industries.
Glass Fiber
Braided sleeves made of glass fibers are particularly suitable for high-temperature applications. They provide excellent heat protection while also offering electrical insulation.
Dimensions: from 0.3 mm, available in various wall thicknesses
Operating temperature: standard: 450 °C; quartz glass: 1,100 °C
Applications: areas with high thermal stress, in the electrical industry, and as a fiber-reinforced composite material.
Polyester Multifil
Braided sleeves made of polyester provide excellent mechanical protection for cables, hoses, and wires.
They are also used as overbraiding for pressure reinforcement.
Dimensions: from 0.5 mm, available in various wall thicknesses
Operating temperature: -50 °C to 120 °C
Applications: as overbraiding for pressure reinforcement, in the electrical industry, and in the automotive sector
Polyester Monofil
Aramid
Aramid braided sleeves are popular and versatile. They are primarily used in the electrical industry and the automotive sector.
Dimensions: from 2 mm
Operating temperature: up to 180 °C without loss of properties
Applications: as overbraiding for pressure reinforcement, in the electrical industry and cable manufacturing, in the automotive sector, as an asbestos substitute, and as a composite material.
Polyamid
Braided sleeves made of polyamide offer a wide range of applications and demonstrate maximum flexibility and versatility in use. Whether for protecting wiring harnesses, in rail transport, or in plant engineering.
Dimensions: from 2 to 200 mm
Operating temperature: -55 °C to 180 °C
Applications: areas with high mechanical stress as cable protection sleeves in the automotive, robotics, mechanical engineering, and plant construction sectors.
Glass Fiber Cords
Our glass fiber cord is available in various diameters from 0.6 mm to 9 mm and is ideally suited for a wide range of applications in industry and craftsmanship.
Thanks to its high heat resistance and durability, it is particularly robust and reliable.
Operating temperature: standard: 450 °C
Applications: areas with high thermal stress, in the electrical industry, and as a fiber-reinforced composite material.

What are braided sleeves?
Braided sleeves made of polyester or polyamide are not only practical for bundling cables and wires, but also provide surface protection. Braided sleeves with specific properties are used in various industrial sectors, including the automotive industry and rail vehicle construction.
Our glass fiber braided sleeves are used both in the electrical industry and as a fiber-reinforced composite material. They are also used in the automotive industry, in electric motors, circuit breakers, generators, and transformers.
What material is a braided sleeve made of?
Different materials for the perfect application. We offer braided sleeves made from glass filaments as well as aramid, polyamide, and polyester. When choosing the right braided sleeve material, it is important to consider the intended use and the environment in which the sleeve will be applied.
How is a braided sleeve installed?
Simply slide the braided sleeve by hand over the cable bundle due to its flexibility. Use micro-serrated scissors for glass fiber and aramid, or a hot cutter for polyester or polyamide, to cut the sleeve to the desired length.
Applications of braided sleeves
Braided sleeves are used in numerous industries, including:
- Mechanical and plant engineering
- Electrical engineering & cable protection
- Automotive industry
- Rail technology
- Medical technology
- Special and prototype construction
Thanks to the wide variety of materials, braided sleeves can be precisely adapted to the respective requirements.
Technical properties & advantages
Depending on the design, braided sleeves offer the following properties:
- Protection against abrasion and mechanical stress
- High temperature resistance
- Resistance to chemicals and oils
- Electrical insulation
- Flexibility with varying diameters
- Low weight
These properties make braided sleeves an indispensable component in many technical applications.
Custom manufacturing & special solutions
In addition to standard solutions, we offer custom-made braided sleeves according to customer specifications. Thanks to in-house production, diameters, materials, and properties can be precisely adapted – also for small series and special applications.
